Lots of great speakers lined up for the Go 2012 Festival as well as music from Ken Riley, Evergreem and possibly myself.

I have an invite to play which I will respond to when I can commit to be there. Whatever the case this will be an awesome event to inspire youth to Go!

Let Justice Reign Part 2

Christmas, what is it about?

Incarnation? God coming into the world. The Kingdom of God at hand, arrived, in the midst, among us. The Messiah reigning. But not on a throne, not as a political authority, but as a servant, humble and compassionate.

Immanuel/Emmanuel God (El) with us.

Let Justice Reign - How?

Modelling Jesus, Modelling God with us in humility and compassion. Demonstrations that the Kingdom of God is near and present by letting Justice Reign by being a people concerned for justice in the socio-political sphere, standing with the oppressed, raising a voice for the voiceless, showing love and compassion.

  • Do something kind this Christmas - buy a coffee for a homeless person?
  • Give - many great causes that need your support this Christmas WEC, Tearfund, STOP the Traffik, Retrak
  • Share - food with someone who is hungry
  • Pray - for the many who are exploited, oppressed, poor, hungry…
  • Write - to MP’s, government to change and embrace justice (see Christian Aid and Tearfund)

These are only some ideas, be creative, what can you do to let justice reign?

This is part one of “Let Justice Reign”. The first blog will look at Christmas Shopping. So what presents are you buying? Who made them? What was the cost? Not the cost of the item, but what did it cost the farmer, producer, factory worker?

Resonance is a ministry of WEC seeking to release heart worship music!

RESONANCE - RELEASING HEART WORSHIP

Our worship songs haven’t been written yet!

If worship is to be wholehearted, surely the language and music needs to be that of the heart?

Music is universal but musical styles and idioms are not; they are wonderfully diverse and culturally shaped.

Packing and moving involves boxes, bags, and any other means of storage and transportation. Thats what my life looks like for the next few weeks with some time off around Christmas.

I remember writing the song “Open Skies” inspired by a talk I led about Opening ourselves to God letting Him into the areas of our lives that we shut off to Him. It was all about the temple, our bodies and our lives as the temple for God to dwell in like the ancient temple it has rooms, areas we only let certain people into, or no one into sometimes and how that is no longer necessary because God’s presence is not limited to the Holy of Holies any longer but can penetrate every temple room, every area of our lives.

Boxes? Packing up I put stuff into categories 1) Junk, 2) Keeping 3) Bringing with us 4) Charity shops or ebay.

Sometimes I categorize my life into boxes and only give some to God. But like all of these categories of boxes for moving require an action and response so do the areas of my life. If they stay in boxes then moving on doesn’t really happen. But, if they are dealt with appropriately for example the junk is disposed of, or the ebay box is sold then moving on becomes easier, if not dealt with then they clog up and clutter the moving on process. So when we are not giving God everything our lives are cluttered, they are messy and moving on is a struggle.

“Open Skies, Open wide” have a listen to the song let it be your prayer today!

I receive an email today informing me that my song ‘Let Justice Reign’ has been shortlisted for the UCB Unsigned Song of 2011!!!

There are 5 songs including yours in the final, which listeners can vote for from Monday 5th December (my birthday whoop whoop!) up until Wednesday 21st December.

The winner will be the song which has received the most votes and will be added to the UCB UK playlist throughout January 2012.

Voting will take place on UCB’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/ucbmedia

So I now urge you to vote for me. A few reasons why you should vote:

  • This song touches on a hard hitting message, it is very challenging and calls for a response to social injustice and poverty.
  • Therefore, if it were to be play-listed and widely heard then it is more likely that it will be more effective
  • and for the obvious promotion of my music and ministry in general

PRIZE BUNDLES for those who share this with the most people!!! Faye won a CD and Travel mug form the last competition.

Help me make this happen!

Rainbows of Hope is a ministry of WEC the Christian Mission which my wife and I have applied to. This week we will be at their training week. I might post some of the things we will learn there. In Senegal where we are hoping to go there is a project which Rainbows of Hope (ROH) are involved with called House of Hope.

The project rehabilitates children who have been living on the streets. Many of the street boys in Senegal are on the streets because they have run away from religious schools because of neglect, abuse and the living conditions. Boys as young as 4 years old are given away by their parents to religious schools for training int he Qu’ran, sometimes because it is tradition to do so and at other times because a family are struggling to support a child and therefore it relieves their burden to do so.

We are going to work there for 2 years and learn the language and culture and how the project works. Before we go we spend some time in France learning French in a language school for 9 months.
